Ready to Assemble Furniture was made popular through IKEA and throughout this RISD course I wanted to explore how the common school desk could be designed to allow for a space within the classroom could be expanded by simply folding up the desks and placing them out of the way for more play space within the classroom.

The project was to create a light that included a lighting fixture that was able to create diffuse and direct light. In my interretation of this prompt I wanted to incorporate a laser cut frame that would be easily assembled and a housing for the light that was made out of a leather form. From the laser cut frame on the head of the lamp I made a interchangeable disc of sanded acrylic that would allow the user to swap out different tones of light diffusion.
